Who we are
Our Lady of the Rosary was built by Polish miners who gave a day's wages a month until the domes were paid for. They named it for the prayer they said going down the shaft and coming back up.
The mines are gone; the Rosary is not. We pray it before every Mass, we bless the baskets on Holy Saturday, we make four thousand pierogi every October — and we set an extra place at the table, because someone always comes.
Through the years
The cornerstone was laid on Rosary Sunday, 1902, and the church was finished four years later without a cent of debt. The bells — Maria, Józef and Stanisław — were cast in Poland and have rung from the east tower since 1911. The school taught in two languages until 1968. When the last colliery closed, the parish kept every one of its societies, and the Rosary Sodality, founded the year the church opened, has never missed a First Saturday.

Fr. Stan was baptized at our font and came back as pastor in 2015. He says the 12:15 in Polish and tends the Mary garden himself.
